5th Annual Freshwater Society Scholarship "Water is Life" Art Contest Entry Deadline is March 20, 2009 In November 2008 you received the 2009 Water is Life Art Contest brochure, which listed the specific guidelines and registration information, information regarding the Freshwater Society, and an entry form. All of these forms are also located on the website: www.freshwater.org If your school/students have participated in the past, we hope you will join us again if this is your first year Welcome! Please email me ASAP to indicate how many students from your school will be entering the contest: sue.gorecki@swsc.org. This will assist in preparations for the regional reception. The art contest is open to all public, private and home schooled 9th-12th grade students. Students may choose from a variety of media including photography, sculpture, drawing, mixed media and painting, and a new category this year - short video. Six $500 scholarships will be awarded to the students who best express the theme "Water is Life." All artwork, accompanying entry form and artist statement is due at the SW/WC Service Cooperative in Marshall by March 20. All short videos must be downloaded to: ww.youtube.com/user/FreshwaterSociety, and the accompanying entry form and artist statement must be received at the SW/WC Service Cooperative by March 20. Semi-finalists will be announced at a regional reception on April 1 in Marshall and will advance to compete in the state competition on May 6 at the Gray Freshwater Center in Excelsior.
