In Shakespeares most popular comedy, Hermia and Lysander are in love, but her father has ordered her to marry Demetrius or die. So the young lovers run away through the woods. They are pursued by Demetrius, who in turn is chased by his obsessive former love, Helena. By coincidence, some local workmen (and aspiring amateur actors) also head to the woods to rehearse a play they will soon perform in honor of Duke Theseuss wedding. Close by, Oberon and Titania, king and queen of the woodland fairies, are arguing and wreaking havoc with the weather. Add in the antics of the mischievous Puck, a love potion gone awry, an amazing donkey transformation, and one crazy night in the woods and all the pairs of lovers certainly discover that, The course of true love never did run smooth.
